Agustín Sant’Anna’s Transfer to Bragantino
Agustín Sant’Anna going to Red Bull Bragantino is pretty big news in Brazilian football. They got the 27-year-old right-back for US$1.8 million with some bonus stuff thrown in for 70% of his rights. He’s signed up till December 2027 which shows both sides are really into this. It’s kind of like what they did when they got that Paraguayan forward Isidro Pitta, getting good players from around South America.

Sant’Anna’s Career and Impact
Before coming to Bragantino Sant’Anna was at River Plate in Argentina’s Superliga. He started out in Uruguay playing for Nacional de Artigas Sauce and CA Cerro. Even though he hasn’t played for Uruguay’s national team yet he’s got good experience that’ll help Bragantino’s defense a lot. It’s pretty common now for South American players to come play in Brazil hoping they can maybe get to Europe later.
Implications for Brazilian Football
Sant’Anna coming over is just part of what’s happening in the Brazilian Serie A where teams are spending more money on players from other countries. It shows Bragantino’s got money to spend and wants to be really good, kind of like how Corinthians tried to get Paul Pogba or when Santos got Giuliano Galoppo on loan from São Paulo. Brazilian football is changing a lot these days with teams spending big money and getting players from all over.
