Grêmio’s search for a new head coach has hit a wall after talks with Pedro Caixinha broke down. The Portuguese coach who just got fired from Red Bull Bragantino said he was too tired from all the back and forth negotiations. Grêmio is now looking at other coaches like Tite and Hernán Crespo to maybe take over the job.

  • Pedro Caixinha was talking about becoming Grêmio’s head coach but the deal fell apart
  • They couldn’t agree on contract stuff and personal matters got in the way
  • Grêmio is checking out other options and Tite and Hernán Crespo might be interested

Grêmio tried real hard to get Pedro Caixinha as their new head coach but it didn’t work out. The talks which happened after Renato Gaúcho left ran into problems because of contract stuff and Caixinha’s family situation in Porto Alegre. Even though it didn’t work out there’s still a small chance Caixinha might take the job in 2025. For now Grêmio is looking at other big names like Tite and Hernán Crespo to lead the team.

Pedro Caixinha’s Coaching Background

Pedro Caixinha likes to use an attacking 4-3-3 setup and has coached teams like Santos Laguna Rangers and Cruz Azul. His last job was with Red Bull Bragantino but they fired him in October 2024. The talks with Grêmio was supposed to be his way back into Brazilian football. Caixinha usually stays at clubs for about 1.34 years which shows how he can adapt but also how tough it is being a football coach.

Implications for Brazilian Football

What’s happening with Grêmio is just part of what’s going on in Brazilian football with all its changes and money being spent. Like how Red Bull Bragantino got Isidro Pitta shows how the league is getting stronger. Also Atlético Mineiro trying to keep players like goalkeeper Everson shows how teams are trying to stay strong. All this stuff shows how Brazilian football is changing and growing while teams try to get better even though its not easy.
