Renato Paiva’s Coaching Journey

Renato Paiva who’s really good with tactics is going to lead Fortaleza after leaving Botafogo. He started out spending 15 years at SL Benfica’s academy where he helped develop players like Renato Sanches and Bernardo Silva. When he became a head coach, he went to Independiente del Valle in Ecuador and helped them win their first league title ever. His style of coaching is all about where players should be on the field balancing attack and defense and changing things up depending on who’s playing.

One of Paiva’s big wins was beating PSG when he was coaching Botafogo even though they weren’t doing so good in their own league. If you want to know more about how Fortaleza’s been doing lately check out our page about them.

Fortaleza’s Strategic Shift

When Fortaleza picked Paiva it showed they wanted someone who could keep the team doing well like they did with Juan Pablo Vojvoda. When Vojvoda was in charge Fortaleza got really good and even made it to some big South American tournaments. Now that he’s gone Paiva’s coming in with new ideas about how to play. They want him to help the team do even better in the Brasileirão which is Brazil’s top league.

Impact on Brazilian Football

When Paiva comes to Fortaleza it’s going to change things not just for them but for the whole Brasileirão. He’s coached at Bahia and Botafogo before so he knows what it’s like, and that’ll help him at Fortaleza. The way he changes his tactics could make it hard for teams like Flamengo who are trying to use more young players with Filipe Luís.
