Bayern Munich legend reveals Erling Haaland talks that’ll shock top clubs

Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland is fully expected to be on his way out of Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, with a host of top European clubs vying for his signature. However, a report via Bild in the Mirror, claims that a move may not be so certain.

Former CEO and Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was apparently in conversation with Aki Watzke, the CEO of Dortmund over an espresso, and was quoted as saying that the future of Erling Haaland could very well be at the Westfalenstadion.

I recently had an espresso with my ex-colleague Aki Watzke in Munich.”

He told me that he was very optimistic that Haaland would still play for Borussia Dortmund next season.”

An admirable confidence from Dortmund’s part if true, but the caveat is that Haaland has a release clause coming into effect as of next summer and could be available for €75million – for a striker that has scored 13 in 10 this season, it sounds like a relative bargain.

However, what these quotes from Rummenigge hint is that Aki Watzke and Dortmund won’t be laying down lightly for the 21-year-old, with potential for lucrative contract talks to fend off the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
