Barcelona to rush through shock ex-Middlesbrough flop transfer in ‘emergency’ deal

  • Feb 18, 10:38

Barcelona were granted special permission by the Spanish FA to sign a player outside of the transfer window after losing the majority of their striker options, but only on a free or within the Spanish system.

Now it’s reported widely, including in the Sun, that Barcelona will sign ex-Middlesbrough striker Martin Braithwaite from Spanish club Leganes for £15 million as their ‘emergency’ transfer option.

Having signed for £9m at Middlebrough, the Danish international failed to deliver on such a price-tag, scoring nine in 40 appearances.

At Leganes this season, the 28-year-old has scored six times in La Liga, but could soon be adding to that if he does indeed make a shock move to Barcelona – linking up alongside Lionel Messi who has 16 assists already this campaign.
