Atletico Madrid make ‘approach’ to Everton as La Liga giants gear up shock bid
Everton’s season on the pitch hasn’t exactly been going to plan and now rumour has it that their big-money signing last summer, Richarlison, is a top transfer target for Atletico Madrid – according to Spanish source AS via Sky Sports.
The report states that an approach has indeed been made to Everton for the Brazilian, who signed from Watford for a mammoth £50 million fee in 2018.
Whether or not this will ultimately unsettle Richarlison remains to be seen but the report also goes on to say that Atletico Madrid will likely fall short in their pursuit of the 21-year old because they wouldn’t be able to afford Everton’s high valuation.
Richarlison’s form as well as Everton’s has gone off the boil as of late, but in the 25 Premier League games played for the Toffees, the six-time Brazilian capped international has scored 10 goals, chipping in with an additional two assists.
Interest from a top Champions League squad in Spain is likely to be the last thing Everton would want in potentially unsettling their star man, amid ongoing scrutiny of the manager and their performances this season.
