Aston Villa star emerges as surprise target for Conte’s Tottenham
Antonio Conte is on the brink of a remarkable turnaround of fortunes for Tottenham, taking them from mid-table to Champions League, with a point enough to do just that this weekend against relegated Norwich – sights will then turn to transfers and one surprise name is doing the rounds.
Aston Villa’s 27-year-old, Scottish international John McGinn is emerging as a top transfer target for Spurs, according to the Telegraph.
Having been ever-present for Villa this season, the Scot has made 34 appearances, with three goals and three assists.
McGinn would provide invaluable experience in-midfield for Conte who will want strong options across the squad to deal with multiple competitions, including potential Champions League football, and the Villa star ticks many of the boxes that Spurs would want.
The main issue will be price. Aston Villa rely heavily on John McGinn, and with a contract until 2025, it could very well be that Tottenham are out-priced for just one player, when they appear to want multiple big transfers in the summer window.
