Aston Villa emerge as surprising frontrunners to sign Sheffield United star
Sheffield United, barring a miracle and an upward trajectory in form, seem destined for relegation from the Premier League and clubs are already circling a number of the Blades’ key players.
A report via TEAMtalk says that Aston Villa are frontrunners for Sheff Utd midfielder Sander Berge – the Norwegian international signed for £22m in January 2020.
Berge has been out of action with injury and is due back to fitness next month, but has been a regular ever since signing from Genk.
A regular in the Norway national team, Berge is unlikely to stick around for Championship football and Villa have emerged as favourites to snap him up in the summer.
Interestingly, the report even suggests Arsenal have, in the past, shown interest in Berge and may once again become interested in what is expected to be a busy summer of transfers.
