River Plate wants to make their team stronger by getting Lucas Esquivel from Athletico Paranaense but they’re having some problems getting the deal done. The team from Argentina has put forward a $4.5 million offer for 80% of Esquivel’s rights but things aren’t going smooth because the Brazilian club keeps changing their mind and don’t seem to want to finish the deal.
- River Plate has offered $4.5 million for 80% of Esquivel’s rights.
- Athletico Paranaense’s inconsistent negotiation stance is causing delays.
- River Plate still wants to get Esquivel on their team.
River Plate’s Strategic Move for Esquivel
River Plate really wants Lucas Esquivel who’s a promising left-back playing for Athletico Paranaense, because they need to make their defense better. Even though Athletico Paranaense is being difficult with what they want River Plate thinks they can still make it happen. The people running the club really want to make their team better to win more games in the Argentine Primera División.

Athletico Paranaense’s Negotiation Stance
The way Athletico Paranaense keeps changing their mind has made everything stop moving forward. They won’t stick to one decision which is making things hard even though River Plate is ready to make the deal. Maybe it’s because they think Esquivel is worth more or they got other plans for him. River Plate tried to throw in Tomás Galván as part of the deal but they said no to that too which just made everything more complicated.
Implications for Argentine Football
All this transfer stuff is happening while Argentine football is going through lots of changes. Like how Eduardo Domínguez signed for longer with Estudiantes de La Plata and Gustavo Costas is staying at Racing Club which shows teams want to keep things steady and plan for what’s coming. While River Plate deals with all these hard talks they really want to get Esquivel to make their team better cause everyone else is getting stronger too.
