In an unexpected move, Marcelo Gallardo, head coach of River Plate, told everyone about a recent talk with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo. Gallardo asked Ronaldo to come join River Plate for the FIFA Club World Cup to make his team stronger with one of the best players ever. Ronaldo who plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League right now was happy about the offer but wanted to stick with Al-Nassr for next season.

Gallardo’s Big Plan

Marcelo Gallardo asking Cristiano Ronaldo was a really bold move to get a football legend to River Plate. He made the offer back in mid-March trying to help his team do better in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Even though Ronaldo decided to stay at Al-Nassr, it showed how big Gallardo was thinking for River Plate.


River Plate’s Club World Cup Journey

With Gallardo in charge River Plate has been doing real good in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The team just beat Urawa Red Diamonds 3-1 which makes them look good for getting to the quarterfinals. Gallardo who came back to River Plate in August 2024 has helped the team get way better with players like Facundo Colidio and Sebastian Driussi doing really well lately.

Ronaldo Still Going Strong

At 40 years old Cristiano Ronaldo is still making news with how good he plays at Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. Since he started playing there in January 2023 Ronaldo has helped Al-Nassr do really well. His contract with Al-Nassr ends in June 2025 and people are talking about what he’ll do next in football. Even though he said no to Gallardo’s offer, Ronaldo shows everyone he’s still amazing at football.
