Montiel’s Career Journey and Current Transfer Talks
Gonzalo Montiel who plays right-back started out at River Plate before going to Sevilla back in 2021. But things haven’t been great in La Liga and he ended up getting loaned to Nottingham Forest for this season. Him coming back to River Plate would be like coming home especially now that they’ve sorted out that investigation thing that was messing with his career. They’re talking about paying more than the 3 million euros that got turned down before which shows River Plate really wants to get him back.

Broader Trends in Argentine Football Transfers
What’s happening with Montiel is kinda like what’s going on with other Argentine clubs bringing back players who’ve been around. Like how Lucas Zelarayán is going back to Belgrano it’s becoming a thing where teams are getting these experienced players back. You can see it in the Argentine Primera División where teams like Estudiantes and Racing Club are also trying to get better by signing specific players and keeping the good ones they already got.
