Erik Lamela Announces Retirement from Professional Football

Erik Lamela has announced his retirement from football, due to ongoing hip issues that made him make this choice. The Argentine winger has been having hip pain since 2017 which made him get surgeries on both hips. Even though he tried really hard to get better the pain just wouldn’t go away so he had to quit playing.

Lamela’s Football Journey

Erik Lamela started his career at River Plate where he got really good really quick before going to Europe. He first went to AS Roma in Europe, where he showed how good he was and became really important for the team. When he moved to Tottenham Hotspur it was like super big deal cause they paid so much money for him.


Career Highlights and Challenges

While he was at Tottenham Lamela played more than 250 games and scored 37 goals plus gave 46 assists. Everyone in the Premier League loved him cause of how he played different and did amazing stuff on the field. Even though the doctors fixed him up good the pain just wouldn’t stop and it might get worse so he decided to stop playing.

Future Plans and Legacy

When Lamela said he was retiring he made sure to thank all the teams that helped him get better at football. He said thanks to River Plate AS Roma Tottenham Sevilla and AEK Athens for helping him grow as a player. Even though he’s not gonna play anymore, Lamela isn’t leaving football completely. He’s gonna be a coach at Sevilla and help teach young players everything he knows about football.

People will remember Lamela not just cause he was good at football but cause he never gave up when things got hard. Now he’s gonna be a coach at Sevilla which shows how much he still loves football and wants to help young players get better.
