Walter Ribonetto got fired from his job managing Godoy Cruz after the team kept playing really bad. The club was doing so poorly under him that they were getting real close to dropping down a division, so they had to look for someone new to help them do better in the Argentine Primera División.

Ribonetto’s Brief Tenure
Walter Ribonetto didn’t last long as manager of Godoy Cruz since he got fired for not getting good enough results. He started in August 2025 but the team only managed to win one game, tie four times and lose six times while he was there. They ended up in 27th place with just 26 points which was so bad that the people running the club had to make a quick choice to get rid of him.

Challenges on the Field
When Ribonetto was in charge Godoy Cruz had a lot of problems. Even though they had the ball like 53.5% of the time they couldn’t really do anything good with it. They got about 5.9 corner kicks each game but let other teams score 1.3 goals from trying 7.8 times per game. They were stuck at 14th place in the Torneo Clausura 2025 and kept letting in more goals than they scored which is why they needed someone new to take over.
Management Changes in the League
Ribonetto getting fired is just one of many manager changes happening in the league lately. Another manager Pablo Guiñazú quit his job at Club Atlético Talleres showing how hard it is for managers these days. At the same time Rosario Central is doing really good in Zona B which shows how tough the competition is. This means Godoy Cruz really needs to find someone good to help get the team to a safer spot in the standings.
