26-goal £12m-rated striker targeted by Celtic, Rangers, Derby and Burnley

With a potentially very different transfer landscape on the horizon, clubs are being urged to look domestically and closer to home for additions this summer. An available, highly-rated 24-year old striker is getting plenty of attention from clubs in Scotland and England.

With 26 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season, Peterborough’s Ivan Toney is set to be a striker in-demand when the transfer window reopens – Celtic, Rangers, Burnley and Derby have all been named as clubs showing an interest.

In a quote carried via the Scottish Sun from Sky Sports, Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony promised the sale of Toney should the club not win promotion from League One; “We had multiple clubs try and buy him in January, we promised Ivan if we weren’t in the Championship next season we would sell him.”

Peterborough were denied a chance of promotion after League One was ended on points per game, and as such it appears the club will honour their promise to sell their star goalscorer.

It was reported that Brentford had a £8 million bid rejected in January for Ivan Toney, with Peterborough looking for around £12m this summer. Whether the likes of Celtic and Rangers will stump up that kind of cash remains to be seen.
