Spurs may have lost out on Mexican midfielder after Lyon president’s bold claim

FC Porto are bracing themselves to lose one of their key midfield figures in Hector Herrera – the Mexican international is set to leave the Portuguese side when his contract expires this summer.

Tottenham, say Sport Witness, have been linked a possible club to do a deal for Hector Herrera on a free, a move that would make plenty of sense considering the departure of Moussa Dembele to China in the January transfer window.

Tottenham haven’t exactly been parting with money in the last two transfer windows, so a bargain pickup in Herrera could fit the bill for where the club stand in the build of their new state-of-the-art stadium.

However, a social media post by Lyon’s president over the weekend has thrown the availability of Hector Herrera in doubt, with a clear suggestion Herrera will sign for the French Ligue 1 club instead;

The original Tweet translated from French into English states; “It is true that Hector his family dream of coming to Lyon and OL: I trust him.”

Whether a deal is done or not is up in the air at this stage, but Tottenham are the only club being linked with the 28-year old, who boasts an impressive 70 caps for Mexico.
