Manchester United to activate Barca player’s minimum fee release clause
Spanish news source Don Balon are stating that Premier League side Manchester United are looking to take advantage of Samuel Umtiti’s release clause of around £53m this summer, with the player said to be somewhat ‘unhappy’.
Still just 24, the French international apparently has a fan in Jose Mourinho and with the Red Devils keen to rebuild their defence next season, Umtiti might just fit the bill with reports that Chris Smalling and Phil Jones face an uncertain future at the club.
Umtiti has featured 16 times in La Liga so far this season but has played in six of the seven Champions League games Barcelona have played in – last in their 1-1 draw away at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
