Boost for West Ham as target ‘regrets’ not moving in January – keen for summer switch

West Ham United have been handed a bit of a transfer boost as their former top target Gary Medel has reportedly revealed his regret on not making a January switch to the London Stadium – and wants a return to the Premier League this summer.

The report in Football.London states that the former Cardiff and Inter Milan midfielder has a door open to him for a transfer in the summer instead, after confusion over the deal in January put a stop to it;

The only player we had interest in was Gary Medel, they told us it was free and we were interested because he can play in two or three positions. They told us he was free but then it turned out the player was not free,” Pellegrini recently said to press (in quotes via Football.London).

Besiktas’ Gary Medel, now 31, would offer an experienced and combative option for Manuel Pellegrini and it would certainly be interesting for Hammers fans to see the two Chileans link up and possibly seeing the best from the 116-time capped international.
